Specimen Requirements

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

 

Preferred:

Container/Tube:  Plain, red-top tube(s) or serum gel tube(s)

Volume:  1 mL of serum

Transport Temperature:  Refrigerate

Collection Instructions:  Serum for trough specimen must be drawn 30 minutes prior to infusion of an intravenous (IV) dose or intramuscular (IM) dose.

Note:  Label specimen appropriately (serum)

 

Alternate:

Container/Tube:  Lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s)

Not Acceptable:  Green-top (heparin) tube, Grey-top (potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride) tube, or Light blue-top (citrate) tube

Volume:  1 mL of plasma

Transport Temperature:  Refrigerate

Collection Instructions:

Note:  Label specimen appropriately (plasma)
